Gas, combustion, electricity, and hot discharge set the limit
A suspected gas odor, combustion concern, smoke, sparking, or water near energized components needs the appropriate utility or emergency response. Never open a relief valve for testing or block its discharge. Keep clear of hot water and a tank that appears deformed, heavily corroded, or actively leaking.
Compare several taps before blaming the heater
From a dry, unobstructed position, note the equipment type, approximate size, location, and any readable model information. Record heat, volume, sound, and moisture separately

Equipment context changes replacement scope
