Low water pressure? Compare one fixture with the rest of the home.

Low flow at one aerator can feel like low pressure throughout the home. Start with comparisons that do not require adjusting the system.

Record whether the change is local or building-wide

  • hot only, cold only, or both
  • constant, time-based, or sudden change

Flow at a faucet is not a pressure measurement

Check one cold tap, one hot tap, and another fixture at separate times. Note whether the change follows irrigation, laundry, shower use, or a neighborhood notice.

A weak stream can result from a local restriction, a partly closed control, a supply condition, a leak, an equipment issue, or a broader pressure change. Compare hot and cold at one fixture, then another fixture in a different room, at separate times.
